The present book, Volume IV of Dzieła Wszystkie (The Complete Works) of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, contains his following piano compositions without opus numbers. Except for the Canzona, all of these works come from Paderewski's juvenilia. A few of them (Waltz in F major, Mazurka in F major and Miniature in E-flat major) have never ben published before, and have survived exclusively in manuscript form. Some have been printed only once in occasional prints (Powódź, Mazurka in G major), or they were published in a supplement to the periodical Echo Muzyczne (Impromptu in F major, two canons, two Intermezzi). Christian Wolff (ur. 1934) to amerykański kompozytor współczesnej muzyki eksperymentalnej. W wielu swoich utworach stosuje on fragmenty improwizowane, uzależnione od inwencji wykonawców. Prezentowana publikacja zwiera kompozycję na dwa fortepiany "Duo for Pianists" Wolffa. Partytura tego utworu została ujęta w postaci pojedynczych motywów muzycznych lub akordów bez wartości rytmicznych, do których odnoszą się wskazówki w postaci układu liczb, np. jedna z liczb podanych przy danym odcinku oznacza czas trwania w sekundach, inna liczba natomiast określa ilość dźwięków jakie mają być wykonane w danym fragmencie. Wiele zależy jednak od wykonawców, którzy dowolnie kreują m. in. dynamikę utworu. Kompozytor ponadto stosuje również niekonwencjonalną grę na fortepianie - szarpanie w różny sposób strun fortepianu. The parts, one for each pianist, are given (not the score). The numer before a colon (3:) gives time in seconds (use a watch with second hand, best a stop-watch). On the other side of the colon is what is to be played, anywhere (chosen freely) within the indicated time. The sounds given may take up all of the indicated time, or any, including the shortest, part of it, i.e. may come anywhere throughout the indicated time. The numbers of the right side of the colon (:2) give the number of tones to be played. When indications for sounds are given but numbers, understand one sound for each designation.
