W ''Youth's Companion'' kompozytor ponownie wykorzystuje technikę szeregującą obejmującą symetryczne ''hexachords''. Ciekawostką w tym zbiorze pięciu utworów jest partia głosu solowego w ostatniej pozycji. ''Riddle Song" przypomina piosenkę z delikatnym akompaniamentem fortepianu. The little pieces in this volume would be excellent illustrations, for the organization comes from a grouping of six notes (hexachords) that can be repeated symmetrically on another level to give all og the twelve notes of the scale. Johann Ludwig Krebs, born 10th October, 1713 in Buttelstedt near Weimar, studied under Bach from 1726 - 1735. In 1737 he was organist at Zwickau, in 1744 at Zeitz, in 1756 Court organist at Altenburg, where he died at the beginning of January 1780. He was a celebrated organ - player in his day, und must have developed an exceptional pedal technique, as may be judged from the great number of pedal solos in his organ works. Justus Johann Friedrich Dotzauer żył w latach 1783 - 1860. W dzieciństwie grał na fortepianie, skrzypcach i wiolonczeli. Jego nauczycielem teorii muzyki i podstaw kompozycji był organista i kompozytor Ruttinger. Dotzauer wyjechał do Meiningen w 1799 roku i kontynuował studia pod kierunkiem znanego niemieckiego wiolonczelisty i koncertmistrza kapeli książęcej Krigcka. Dotzauer left for Meiningen in 1799 and continued his studies under the famous German violoncellist and concertmaster of the ducal chapel Krigck. Two years later, he was admitted to the Meinigen court chapel. There he stayed until 1805, when he left for a Leipzig chapel. While he was in Leipzig, he played in the Gewandhaus orchestra until 1811. He often visited Berlin to listen to Romberg. Sotzauer played in the Dresden chapel for forty years (from 1821 until 1850 as principal violoncellist), taking part in symphonic and operatic performances. In 1850, he left his post in the court orchestra and retired. He died in Dresden on March 6, 1860. Dotzauer was no ordinary composer - he wrote an opera, several masses, symphonies, overtures and nine concertos, three concertinos, the Double concerto for two cellos, chamber and solo compositions (sonatas, fantasias, variations, divertissements and pot - pourris). Książka wydana w roku 1982, zawiera trzy utwory na instrumenty klawiszowe. Sonata Concertata G-dur Severo Giussaniego na organy i klawesyn (lub fortepian) zawiera cztery części: I - Introduzione (Grave), II - Allegro, III - Andante, IV - Allegro. Sonata F-dur na duet organowy skomponowana przez Gaetano Piazza's posiada formę sonaty da chiesa (kościelna). Struktura harmoniczna bazuje na przebiegu Tonika - Dominanta - Subdominanta - Dominanta, co w rezultacie czyni utwór przejrzystym. Sonata D-dur Bonaventury Terreni na duet organowy jest formą jednoczęściową, krótką. Charakterystyczne są alteracje, synkopy i liczne triole. A close look at the compositional workmanship of the pieces for two keyboard instruments in this volume will make it clear that this is truly keyboard music which can be played as well on organs (or positive organs) as on harpsichords or pianos without falsifying its character. On the organ, a contrast in sound can be obtained by opposing the diapason chorus to the flute chorus. Msza B-dur Josepha Haydna zwana "Heiligmesse" powstała w 1802 roku i składa się z sześciu części: I - Kyrie, II - Gloria, III - Credo, IV - Sanctus, V - Benedictus, VI - Agnus Dei. W obecnym wydaniu zawarto opracowanie Mszy B-dur na głosy wokalne solowe (SATB), chór SATB i fortepian. In the present edition of this Mass, composed by Haydn in 1802 and called "Harmonie Messe" due to its rich use of wind instruments, all choral and instrumental parts are clearly and extensively marked. Haydn's intimantions do not only permit these supplementary markings but make them imerative in order to enable larger choral society of today to giva a vivid and faithful rendition of this exceedingly warm music. When performed by large choirs it is essential to find the right balance between the choir and the orchestra and the woodwinds should be doubled whenever their melodic lines are in danger to be drowned. Niniejsza publikacja jest pierwszą częścią kolekcji czeskiej muzyki organowej. Zawiera utwory przeznaczone głównie na organy romantyczne. Instrument ten znacznie różni się od typowych organów XVIII - wiecznych. Na organach romantycznych możliwe jest wydobycie ciemnego dźwięku i znacznie cichszego, przez co niemożliwe jest osiągnięcie brzmienia orkiestrowego. Stąd utwory polifoniczne grane są w większości na organach XVIII - wiecznych. W publikacji zawarto utwory czeskich kompozytorów takich, jak: Bedrich Smetana, Antonin Dvorak, Frantiek Musil, Leo Janáček, Jos. Boh. Foerster, Josef Klička, Eduard Tregler, Vítezslav Novák, Bedř. Ant. Wiedermann i Frantiek Michálek. This compositions included in this collection were almost exclusively written for the organ of the romantic type. This instrument greatly differs from the classic organ of the eighteenth century, which is due chiefly to its lack of the glossy and transparent sound designed for the reproduction of polyphonic compositions, it possesses on the contary a dense and sombre colouring which in various registers attempts to reach as much as possible the character of orchestral instruments. These qualities predestinate the romantic organ mainly to the reproduction of homophonous compositions. The chronologic arrangement of this collection shows best of all how the change from the classic organ into the romantic type corresponded with the transition from polyphony into homophony. While the compositions of Smetana and Dvorak have a pronouncedly contrapuntal character due to the purpose for which they were written, Musil's Sonata is with its homophonous signs a transitory type, and Janacek's Adagios fully possess the character of orchestral compositions. The Czech romantic organ music reaches its height in the compositions of Klicka, Foerster, and Tregler, which allow to profit as much as possible by the orchestral colours of the romantic organ.
