This arrangements in this book are intended to give additional, recreational work to those in the early stages of studying the guitar. Only easy keys are used, there are few accidentals, the rhythms are simple, and the left hand does not move away from the nut position: the harmonic language is traditional and such chords as are used are easy to play - they will be familiar to anyone who has worked through the customary, elementary pieces by Carcassi, Aguado and the like. For the most part, the music is in only two parts - the melody and a supproting bass.

There is a considerable amount of left hand fingering given here, partly because I think it will prove helpful in a piece containing much campanela, and partly to clearly indicate where the notes should be taken, albeit with some individual choices made by other players. The fingering gives the 'flavour'.
