Claude Debussy was a great admirer of Chopin's music, and oversaw these editions for Durand in 1915. Includes a brief introduction by Debussy and a historical article. The term 'polonaise refers to a dance in triple time of Polish origin and, by extension, to an instrumental piece most commonly characterized, in the definitive phase of its development, by the rhythm. The dance originally drew on the traditional music sung at Polish weddings and other festive occasions. Later, the traditional dance with sung text was adopted by the Polish nobility and became a slow instrumental dance such as might suit a majestic procession. This flowering of the polonaise within the aristocracy encouraged, from the late seventeenth century, its international diffusion into other European courts. The French name 'polonaise' was generally employed in the eighteenth century. The from was fixed as a ternary ABA structure, the central section acting as a trio before a da capo reprise of the first part.

The flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon Quintet, composed in 1948 on request of the Polish Composers Union, Spisak dedicated to Martha Thibault, the mother of his wife, Andrée. This piece is considered one of the best Polish wind quintets of the 20th century. It is composed of three parts: Allegro moderato, Andante and Andante-Allegro, with the last being the most developed of the three. This cheerful composition is characterized by an equal participation of instruments, transparent texture, restless and ever-chaning tone colour and expressive articulation and motion (chiefly in the first and last part). The composer contrasts blockof accords with sections in homophonic and poliphonising texture in a multi-section structure and in a relatively small space. The from of the pieces is based on a motif. Although some elements of minor and major tonality exist, their functional dependences are blurred and the role of the facter introducing order to the melody and harmony of the piece is played by ostinate structures. The Quintet was first performed 10th October 1949 in Kraków.

"Circulations for solo trombone" is built from seven segments based on intervallic structures ranging from the smallest to the largest intervals. The introduction and the ending are based on a fragment of a series of harmonics: the work starts with the note F, proceeds to the highest possible note and then returns to the note F in the final segment. The form involving the passing through the particular intervals in the segments as well as the introduction and its mirror reflection in the ending gives the work a circular scheme, hence the title of the work.
The work "Combinations on Olympus" for solo trombone was inspired by Greek mythology. The piece consists of four sections based on the classical forms used in: the invocation, song, dance and epitaph. With the exception of the epitaph, they are constantly interrupted by the contemporary way of narration, which, as it were, breaks in upon the classical order. Thus a dialogue between the past and the present develops. Despite the presence of ritual elements, I do not wish to include any religious implications here. This is just another attempt to express the world existing in our imagination.

"Travels" to cykl trzech utworów - podróży skomponowanych przez Davida Amrama. Utwór I - "Taos" to tradycyjna piosenka romantyczna pochodząca z Pueblo Taos w północnym Nowym Meksyku. Utwór II - Andante - Blues napisany jest w formie tematu z wariacjami. Trąbka posługuje się tu techniką twelve bar. Utwór III - Taxim - to kompozycja w formie ronda. W kadencję wpleciona jest melodia "Aya Zehn", której kompozytor nauczył się w Kairze podczas podróży koncertowej w 1978 roku.
Całość David Amram zadedykował swojej żonie Lorze Lee i synkowi Adamowi na pierwsze urodziny. Premiera "Travels" miała miejsce w szkole muzycznej w Julliard 26 marca 1985 roku.
