Enya, a właściwie Eithne Ni Bhráonain to irlandzka piosenkarka urodzona w roku 1961. W skład grupy muzycznej wchodzą trzy osoby: Eithne Ni Bhráonain, producent muzyczny Nicky Ryan i autorka tekstów Roma Ryan. Utwory zawarte w prezentowanej publikacji pochodzą z krążka zatytułowanego: "Shepheard Moons" i wydanego w roku 1991. Wśród tytułów znajdziesz m. in.: "Carribean Blue", "How Can I Keep from Singing?", "Book of Days", "Marble Halls", "Ebudae" i inne. "After Watermark was released - I was inundated with request to talk about the lyrics. One part of me felt that the lyrics should speak for themselves and that to 'explain' them would be like naming the colours of a painting while forgetting to look at the picture. Another part of me wanted to acknowledge the genuine interest people were showing and so I replied, haphazardly it seemed, to those who would have asked. Here, with Shephered Moons, I have, in response, provided some background to the songs in the hope that the understanding of the songs may have some uniformity. This, of course, will go part of the way to explain them, for it is also my hope that everyone who listens to them may hold their own interpretation. I have written about them by searching for the genesis of the songs in diaries and notebooks I have kept and so the background has, as a result, the flavour of a personal journal. Zawarte w niniejszej publikacji trzy tańce szkockie Johna Gleneska Mortimera reprezentują najbardziej rozpowszechnione formy taneczne: gigue, strathspey i reel. Oparte są one o tradycyjne szkockie melodie ludowe. Gigue nie potrzebuje za wiele wyjaśnień - metrum 6/8, często występował już w okresie baroku. Strathspey jest wolniejszym tańcem, dla którego kompozytor wybrał melodię od szkockiej melodii skrzypcowej "The Dean Brig O' Edynburg". Reel natomiast jest bardzo żywym i bujnym tańcem, który powinien być zagrany bardzo szybko. These three dances represent the best - known Scottish forms: the jig, the strathspey and the reel, and are based chiefly on genuine folk melodies. The jig needs no explanation, its 6/8 rhythm appearing frequently in Baroque music. The strathspey is a slower dance, for which I have chosen a fine melody from the Scottish fiddle tradition, "The Dean Brig O' Edinburgh". Prezentowana publikacja zawiera wybrane kompozycje fortepianowe Saint-Saëns'a. Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921), together with Césare Franck, is one of the composers who renewed French music in the second half of the 19th century. At the time that Saint-Saëns wrote his earliest works, Berlioz was the only representative of genuine greatness in French symphonic music. Apart from the abundant flow of operatic production, the overwhelming influence of Beethoven and the even mightier influence of Wagner which followed upon it had crippled the original creative powers of many French composers. George Crumb (ur. 1929) to amerykański kompozytor awangardowej muzyki współczesnej. W jego twórczości dominują poszukiwania niekonwencjonalnej kolorystyki, oraz nowych technik kompozytorskich. Ogromny wpływ na jego muzykę miały kompozycje Antona Weberna. "Songs, drones and refrains of death" Georga Crumba to utwór skomponowany do poezji Federico Garcia Lorca. W obsadzie, poza barytonem, fortepianem elektrycznym (amplifikowanym), gitarą elektryczną, znajdują się również dwie perkusje (perkusja I - m. in. tamburyn, ksylofon, 3 tom tomy, bongosy, trójkąt; perkusja II - wibrafon, marimba, bębny, tam-tam, chiński gong). Ponadto każdy z wykonawców (poza perkusistami) posiada również w swojej partii grę na różnych instrumentach perkusyjnych (np. baryton gra również m. in. na 3 tom-tomach, talerzach oraz tamburynie). W prezentowanej kompozycji Crumb stosuje ponadto wiele niekonwencjonalnych technik wykonawczych takich jak m. in.: gra na strunach fortepianu, czy w głosie wokalnym - krzyk oraz różne rodzaje szeptu. All performers read from score (9 scores needed for performance). Each note is preceded by an accidental, exept in case of an immediate repetition of pitch or a pattern of pitches. The metronome indications are approximate and may vary slightly, depending on the acoustics of the hall. All glissandi occupy the total duration of the note to which they are affixed. The baritone should carefully differentiate between the various modes of vocal projection indicated in the score. "Electric piano" means simply an amplified grand piano.
