Morton Feldman to amerykański kompozytor należący do głównych postaci muzyki XX wieku. Niniejszy utwór na wiolonczelę solo ''Projection 1'', to typowo współczesny gatunek muzyki. Utwór posiada zapis współczesny - graficzny, we wstępie dokładnie określono znaczenie poszczególnych znaków. Wskazana jest względna wysokość dźwięku, długość prostokątów określa długość trwania dźwięku. The pieces, while looking identical on paper, were actually conceived quite deifferently. In Durations I the quality of the particular instruments together suggested a closely written kaleidoscope of sound. To achieve this I wrote each voice individually, choosing intervals that seemed to erase or cancel out each sound as soon as we hear the next. In the Duration with the tuba, the weight of the three instruments used made me treat them as one. I wrote all sounds simultaneously, knowing that no instrument would never be too far behind or too far ahead of the other. Through thinning and thickening mu sounds. I kept the image intact. In Durations IV there was a combination of both. Here I was a little more precise in that 1 gave metronome indications. Krzysztof Meyer to polski kompozytor, pedagog i pianista urodzony w 1943 roku, uczeń m. in. Krzysztofa Pendereckiego. Jego utwór "Moment musical" na wiolonczelę solo pochodzi z 1976 roku. Jak pisze Meyer - kompozycję tę należy traktować jako dodatek do jego Koncertu symfonicznego ("Moment musical" może być wykonywany bezpośrednio po nim). Jest to utwór w pełni awangardowy - utrzymany jest w nowoczesnej harmonice, nie posiada żadnego metrum, wykorzystane są w nim różne sposoby gry na wiolonczeli (m. in. gra pizzicato, glissanda, szerokie łamane czterodźwięki). As Krzysztof Meyer wrote: "Moment Musical written for solo violoncello is chiefly intended to serve as a supplement.
