Jest to ostatnie i najbardziej dojrzałe dzieło, jakie skomponował on podczas swojego pobytu w Salzburgu. Partia solisty (Fortepian I) została wydana w możliwie najbliższym oryginałowi zapisie nutowym, z kolei w partii orkiestry zaaranżowanej na fortepian (Fortepian II) zachowano wszelkie źródłowe oznaczenia dynamiczne i artykulacyjne. Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat major (K 271), dated January 1777, is his last and most mature work in this genre written during his years in Salzburg. Composed considerably later than its three precessors K 175, 238 and 246, it forms a pinnacle in the output of the twenty-one-year-old composer. With this work Mozart attained an individual style of writing which had repercussions on his instrumental music as a whole. Its unusual formal design is no less extraordinary than the demands it places on the soloist. The present edition has been revised on the basis of the autograph score formely located in the holdings of the Prussian State Library in Berlin but now in Bilioteka Jagiellońska in Crocow.
