Antologia amerykańskich arii, zaaranżowanych na głos wokalny sopranowy i fortepian. W publikacji znalazły się dzieła wokalne największych amerykańskich kompozytorów, takich jak Kurt Weill, Gian Carlo Menotti czy Samuel Barber. This landmark series collects compelling, useful, singer-friendly arias from a distinctly American opera tradition. Each volume includes information about every opera and an aria plot note. A majority of the music in the four volumes has never before been available outside of the opera vocal scores, and some arias in the series have never been in print at all before now. Most arias are appropriate for college-level singers. Composers such as Samuel Barber, William Bolcom, Douglas Moore, Virgil Thomson and Gian Carlo Menotti are well represented. Additionally, arias are included from important works such as Regina, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Ghosts of Versailles, The Great Gatsby, Little Women and many others. Stephen Sondheim graciously agreed to adapt new aria editions of two pieces from Sweeney Todd for the series: The Contest in the Tenor volume and Epiphany in the Baritone/Bass edition. Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) był twórcą nowego stylu muzycznego, określonego zapożyczonym z dziedziny malarstwa, choć w istocie wywodzącym się raczej z estetyki poezji symbolistów, mianem impresjonizmu. Podłożem twórczości Debussy'ego było przeciwstawianie się późnemu romantyzmowi, a w szczególności estetyce Wagnerowskiej. Melodyka przybiera u Debussy'ego formę krótkich motywów, traci swój walor zasadniczy na rzecz harmonii. Na główny plan wysuwa się kolorystyka dźwiękowa. Niniejsza publikacja zawiera dwie kompozycje Debussy'ego na klarnet B lub A i fortepian skomponowane w oryginale na klarnet i orkiestrę w 1909 roku. Both pieces of the present volume were written for the "concours", the contest for wind instruments and prescribed to clarinet players as compulsory pieces. The Premiere Rhapsodie pour clarinette en sib was composed at the end of the year 1909 and was completed in January 1910 with piano accompaniment, (in an arrangement by Debussy of the year 1910 / 1911 described as Premiere Rhapsodie pour Orchestre avec Clarinette principlale en sib). The Petite Pieces with the sub - title Morceau a déchiffer pour le concours de Clarinette de 1910 - conceived as a prima - vista piece for clarinet players, was also arranged subsequently by Debussy for the orchestra.
