Publikacja jest zbiorem muzyki fortepianowej Erika Satie (1866 - 1925), kompozytora francuskiego. Studia Satie odbył w Konserwatorium Paryskim. To dość barwna i ciekawa postać w historii sztuki. Satie, oprócz muzyki, zajmował się również malarstwem. Strawiński mówił o nim, iż: "Jest on najokropniejszą osobą, jaką kiedykolwiek znał - i zarazem najrzadszą".
