Publikacja zawiera utwór Jana Koetsiera oparty o operę W. A. Mozarta - "Don Giovanni", a właściwie: "Il dissoluto punito ossia il Don Giovanni" (Rozpustnik ukarany, czyli Don Giovanni). Utwór opracowany jest na tubę solo (instrument ten obrazuje Don Giovanniego) i zespół instrumentów dętych blaszanych: 2 trąbki D, 2 trąbki B, 4 puzony tenorowe suwakowe i róg F. The content of this collage from Mozart's well-known opera "Don GIovanni" is defined by the original subtitle Il Dissoluto Punito (the Libertine Punished). This refers of course to the infamous seducer Don Giovanni, who is represented in this piece by the solo tuba. Right at the start he tries to get his hands on Donna Anna, who calls for help to her father, the Commendatore (trombone). The latter hurries on to the scene and challenges Giovanni to a duel. The father is killed, but Giovanni calmly goes on to seek his next conquest. However both his attempts, first with Zerlina (La ci darem' la mano) then later his mocking serenade to Donna Elvira are interrupted by the ghostly voice of the murdered Commendatore. Giovanni persistently rejectes the thrice - repeated call to reform his ways and meets the fate he deserves by being thrown into Hell.

Oskar Böhme Trumpet Sextet op. 30, probably written around 1906, undoubtedly ranks among the finest brass music produced by the Romantic era. The title refers to the distinctive symmetry of the instrumentation: four instruments from the trumpet family (2 trumpets, bass trumpet and trombone) are framed by two representatives of the bugle family (cornet and tuba). The use of the trumpet was remarkable at that time because the characteristic brass ensembles of the period, the so-called cornet quartets and quintets, consisted exclusively of bugle-family insruments. It was for such a group of 2 cornets, alto, tenor and bariton horn, for example, that Viktor Ewald wrote his well known quintets. Lista utworów: |
