Obecny, bujny rozwój muzyki symfonicznej Ryszarda Straussa (1864 - 1949) skłonił wydawców niniejszej publikacji do zebrania w jednym zeszycie fragmentów partii skrzypiec sprawiających wykonawcom największe trudności. Wyboru kompozycji dokonali najsłynniejsi artyści wiedeńscy - członkowie Wiedeńskiej Opery Królewskiej oraz pedagodzy Królewskiej Akademii Muzycznej. Wśród utworów odnaleźć można m. in. partie skrzypiec ze słynnych poematów symfonicznych Straussa takich jak np. "Don Juan", czy "Also sprach Zarathustra" oraz frasgmenty z symfonii - "Symphonia domestica" i "Symphonie f-moll". The great enhancement and development of orchestral execution in our times produced by the appearance of Richard Strauss has induced the publishers to collect in their "Orchestral Studies" all those passages from that master's works that present more than average difficulties, so as to offer them to the executant as a vademecum. The passages were chosen by the foremost artists in Vienna, members of Imperial Opera (Vienna Philharmonic Society) and mostly also professors and teachers of the Royal Imperial Academy for Music and Representative Art.
