Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934) to kompozytor brytyjski. Pozostawił po sobie m. in. dwie symfonie, oratorium "The dream of Gerontius", oraz wariacje na temat własny pt. "Enigma". Utwór "Salut d'amour" op. 12 Elgar skomponował w 1886 roku. Artysta przeznaczył tę kompozycję na skrzypce i fortepian. Partię fortepianu pisał z myślą o swojej uczennicy z klasy akompaniamentu fortepianowego - Caroline Alice Roberts. We wrześniu 1888 roku Roberts została żoną kompozytora. In July 1888 Edward Elgar added the date to a piece for violin and piano that he had entitled "Luebesgrüss". Since October 1886 Elgar had received Caroline Alice Roberts as a pupil in the art of piano accompaniment, and the violin piece almost certainly originated in the course of their growing relationship. Master and pupil become engaged in September 1888. One other rather subtle change was also implied by the cover of Schott's printed edtition. The piece appeard in several versions. First in the autumn of 1889, it was released simultaneously in versions for violin and piano, piano solo and small orchestra, then other arrangements followed: by 1899 the cover title to the music boasted no less than 20 instrumental versions and vocal versions in various keys, to two texts in English and one in French. As a piano solo, "Salut d'amour" has sufficient technical challenges and musical substance to remain a rewarding experience for the player.

"I left aside all the unfinished work and got down to (...) a little story for violin and orchestra", a wrote Michał Spisak in his letter of 7th December 1953 to Grażyna bacewicz, informing her of the start of work on a new composition. Initially meant to be a Capriccio, the work eventually saw the light of day as Andante and Allegro for violin and string orchestra. The commissioned by Nadia Boulanger for the purpose of a course taught by Yehudi Menuhin in summer 1954 in Fontainebleau. It is worth nothing that the course curriculum also included compositions by D. Milhaud, G. Auric, H. Dutilleux and I. Strawinsky, all of them commissioned by nadia Boulanger. Though Spisak did not treat Andante and Allegro seriously enough, calling the work "a trifle" or an "odd piece" in letters to his friends, Nadia Boulanger valued the work highly, herself conducting its performance of 16th November 1954 at the concert celebrating 50 years of her teaching career. Kenneth Gordon, the soloist, was accompanied by the RTF Chamber Orchestra. Lista utworów: |

Sonata "June - December" na skrzypce i fortepian powstawała w przeciągu lat 2003 - 2005 w Katowicach. Utwór został prawykonany przez Krzysztofa Lasonia i Jacka Maksymiuka 27 kwietnia 2005 w Akademii Muzycznej im. Karola Szymanowskiego w Katowicach. Z jednej strony nawiązuje on wprost do czasu ukończenia części utworu, a z drugiej może też sugerować konflikt obecny w utworze. Sonata 'June - December' for violin and piano was composed in the course of the years 2003 - 2005 in Katowice and first performed on April 27th 2005 at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. The main impulse to write the Sonata was the need to meet the challenge of the classical form. The second impulse, equally important, was the urge to destroy this form and go beyond it. These two drives, the first to be consistent, to create, develop and sum up, and the other to be unpredictable, to create, contrast and destroy, meet and compete with each other as themes in a classical sonata. The title can be understood in two ways. On the one hand it simply reflects the time when the two movements were finished, but on the other hand it also indicates the conflict present in the piece. cena 29,95 zł. nuty.pl | Twardowski Romuald Plejady na skrzypce i fortepian Plejady na skrzypce i fortepian Pleiades for Violin and Piano
Associating the title of the composition - Pleiades - with the poem by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz is thoroughly justified. By his composition for violin and piano Romuald Twardowski wished to pay tribute to the poet, with whom he was a close friend. The piece was composed in 1993, thirteen years after the poet's death. In the musical language of Pleiades we shall find traces of works by karol Szymanowski. In Pleiades Twardowski uses similar solutions regarding the music texture, such as the high register of the violin playing the cantilena against the background of figurative arabesques of the piano. Irregular rhythm structure of the melodic line can also be encountered in Pleiades. The composition was first performed by Piotr Stawski (violin) and Maciej Grzybowski (piano) in Warsaw on 25th October 1993. Lista utworów: |
