Toshiro Mayuzumi (ur. 1929) to jeden z najwybitniejszych współczesnych kompozytorów japońskich. W swoich utworach artysta ten nawiązuje przede wszystkim do stylistyki muzyki orientalnej. W "Essay" wykorzystuje ponadto elementy tradycyjnej muzyki japońskiej (m. in. krótkie powtarzane repetytywnie melodie o wąskim ambitusie, oparte o skale modalne) w połączeniu z ciekawą, nowoczesną harmoniką. Czas trwania utworu: ok. 9' Toshiro Mayuzumi was born on February 20, 1929, in Yokohama, Japan. Miles Kastendieck in New York Journal-American wrote that: "Mayuzumi's "Essay" for String Orchestra instantly created an oriental atmosphere; the sliding strings gave it identity. The resemblance of these sounds to a number of distant sirenes, however, brought it abruptly into the realism of city life. Could such kinschip reflect the frequent observation about music being a universal language?". Toshiro Mayuzumi about his "Essay" wrote: "This is my first attempt at a composition for a string orchestra. Until quite recently I was seeking grater and greater variety of tone color and nothing was further from my mind than the comparatively limited tonal range of string orchestra". Lista utworów: |

Prezentowana publikacja zawiera utwór "Complexi sonori" Wassila Kasandjieva na orkiestrę smyczkową. Dzieło to powstało w 1971 roku. The conductor is to indicate the number of each pattern to played. One of the versions possible is given in the scheme accompanying the score and is merely to serve as a rough guide to the conductor; (it is not necessary to adhere to this example note for note). The length of each individual section is determined by the conductor; the entire performance should, however, not exceed 8-9 minutes. Each performer is at liberty to improvise, at any time, on a self-chose pattern. However, when directed to do so, the group concerned should immediately start improvising on that pattern specified by the conductor. The finalé commences with glissandi on the body of the instrument increasing in tempo and volume from p and f and culminating in pattern no. 20. Lista utworów: |
