Kolekcja tradycyjnych hymnów ludowych Ameryki opracowanych na organy przez Jeana Langlaisa. Jean Langlais, organista i kompozytor francuski, w 1952 roku odwiedził po raz pierwszy Amerykę. Po wielu występach stał się niemalże tak znany jak we Francji. W niniejszej publikacji znajdziesz aranże takich hymnów, jak: "Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound", "Battle Hymn of the Republic", "There Is a Fountain Filled With Blood" i innych. More than thirty years ago, in 1952, Jean Langlais made his first pilgrimage to America, introducing himself both as a formidable organist and gifted composer. Utwory zostały napisane w oparciu o popularne melodie hymnów, m. in.: "Bangor" Williama Tans'ura (1734), "Carlisle" Charlesa Lockharta (1769), "Song 1" Orlando Gibbonsa (1583 - 1625) i inne. Endeavoring to make these settings more appropriate for Short Preludes and / or Postludes, I have evolved and used the following scheme: a short introduction, a reharmonization or resetting of the tune, followed by an improvisation in conclusion.
