Publikacja jest drugą częścią cyklu 36 krótkich preludiów organowych kanadyjskiego kompozytora i organisty - Healeya Williana. Utwory zostały napisane w oparciu o popularne melodie hymnów, m. in.: "Bangor" Williama Tans'ura (1734), "Carlisle" Charlesa Lockharta (1769), "Song 1" Orlando Gibbonsa (1583 - 1625) i inne.

Endeavoring to make these settings more appropriate for Short Preludes and / or Postludes, I have evolved and used the following scheme: a short introduction, a reharmonization or resetting of the tune, followed by an improvisation in conclusion. Such a pattern could also be useful for teaching purposes.

Flor Peeters (1903 - 1986) to belgijski kompozytor, organista i pedagog. Większość swoich kompozycji stworzył na organy lub też chór z towarzyszeniem tego instrumentu. Niniejsza publikacja zawiera dziesięć preludiów hymnicznych na organy. Sześć z nich objętych jest wspólnym tytułem - "Marriage" (dotyczą tematyki związanej z małżeństwem), natomiast pozostałym preludiom Peeters nadał tytuł "The home and the family" ("Dom i rodzina"). Wszystkie utwory zostały skomponowane w oparciu o religijne melodie pochodzące z różnych wieków (od średniowiecza do XX wieku).
