Grandes variations op. 6 Jana Nepomucena Bobrowicza na temat arii z "Don Juana" Mozarta to jeden z najpiękniejszych polskich utworów gitarowych XIX wieku. Stawiany jest na równi z granymi na wszystkich estradach świata "Variations brillantes op. 9" Fernando Sora na temat arii z "Czarodziejskiego fletu" Mozarta. Pięknie sztychowany, wydany u Pillera we Lwowie - prawdopodobnie w 1826 roku - jest pierwszym drukowanym dziełem Bobrowicza.
Utwór składa się z tematu i sześciu wirtuozowskich wariacji kontrastujących pod względem nastroju, tempa, wyrazu i estetyki. Pięć z nich napisanych jest w tonacji durowej, tylko przedostatnia w molowej w formie kantyleny. Kończy ją wirtuozowska kadencja, której brak w wydaniu lwowskim. Wariacja szósta - z refleksyjnym muzycznym oddechem - kończy się brawurowym, niezwykle efektownym finałem.
Prezentowana edycja Grandes variations op. 6 jest oparta na 2. wydaniu tego utworu (Breitkopf and Haertel) z 1832 roku.

Bobrowicz's Grandes variations op. 6 on a theme from Mozart's Don Juan aria is one of the most beautiful Polish works for guitar of the 19th century. It maches Fernando Sor's Variations brillantes op. 9 from Mozart's The Magic Flute, played on stages worldwide. Beautifully engraved, published at Piller's in lvov presumably in 1826, it is Bobrowicz's first printed work.
The piece contains a theme and six virtuoso variations contrasted in mood, tempo, expression and aesthetics. Five of them are written in the major scale, only the penultimate in the minor scale and cantilena form. It ends in a virtuoso cadenza missing in the Lvovian edition. The sixth variation - with meditative musical breathing - ends in a bravura, extraordinarily impressive finale.
The publication of Grandes variations op. 6 is based on the 19th century edition by Breitkopf and Haertel dated 1982.
