Like a straw in the wind

Prokoview wrote his "Visions Fugitives" between 1915 and 1917 and gave the work its first performance on April 15, 1918, on a program of his own works which also included the first performances of the Third and Fourth Piano Sonatas. He took the title from a poem by Balmont.
Sergey prokoview, one of the forces of music in the twentieth century, was born in Russia in 1891. Like his compatriot Igor Strawinski, he was a student of Rimski - Korsakov at the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) Conservatory, where his first Piano Concerto won for him the Rubinstein Prize in 1910.
