De La Transposition

The designation BWV refers to standard catalog numbers assigned to Johann Sebastian Bach's complete works; the designation S, to catalog numbers assigned to Franz Liszt's works by scholar Humphrey Searle. For the Six Preludes and Fugues, Searle places Liszt's dates of transposition at 1842 - 1850; for the Fantasy and Fugue, before 1872.

Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886) to kompozytor, dyrygent i pianista węgierski, twórca gatunku poematu symfonicznego oraz wielu wirtuozowskich dzieł fortepianowych. Zeszyt dziesiąty "Dzieł fortepianowych" Liszta zawiera jego transkrypcje oraz wariacje fortepianowe skomponowane na podstawie dzieł innych kompozytorów. Wśród utworów odnaleźć można m. in. opracowanie walców - kaprysów ze zbioru "Soirées de Vienne" Franza Schuberta, sześć transkrypcji fortepianowych "Preludiów i fug" na organy Jana Sebastiana Bacha, wariacje na temat melodii basso continuo z kantaty "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen" Bacha oraz transkrypcję jego "Fantazji i fugi" organowej g-moll BWV 542. Liszt jako wirtuoz fortepianu wielokrotnie opracowywał na ten instrument m. in. słynne dzieła orkiestrowe oraz organowe nadając im wirtuozowską fakturę oraz wariacyjną formę.

Here the learners reapply in slightly altered fashion the basic musical ideas just encountered. The goal is for students to be able to read and understand music at the level of their current technical advancement and to be able to apply the appropriate concepts to each new example.
This book provides a wide variety of related musical materials to diversify each person's learning experiences. Students should transpose as much as time permits and create literally an infinite variety of musical examples of their own. The nurturing of individual productivity and appreciation of quality performance are crucial components of the growth motivation that will stimulate for further learning.
Students should improvise many examples before notating one and should do that as quickly as possible. Teachers should focus on the learning processes so that students will be able to achieve better, more interesting products.
