Prapremiera opery miała miejsce w Wenecji, 06. 03. 1853 r. W Polsce po raz pierwszy "Traviatę" wystawiono w 1856 roku w Warszawie. W niniejszym wydaniu zawarto fantazję "La Traviata" op. 248, w opracowaniu Emanuele Krakampa na flet poprzeczny z fortepianem. Fin de siecle. I refer to ours, that of the 20th century, which promises to come to a pectacular conclusion within the space of three lustra; a word, this, still to be found in the opera librettos, in the songs and verses of the last century, the 19th century. A renewed interst in the music of a not-too-distant past tends to characterize, as it caught up in a vast tidal movement, the final stage of every epoch. We are witnessing, today, a large scale return to the manners of the past, and often the spectator has the peculiar sensation of encountering aural or visual echoes of that past, which he has not lived through yet which he recognizes as something familiar, accessible; a sort of enchantment. Gabriel Fauré (1845 - 1924) to organista i kompozytor francuski, uczeń m. in. Kamila Saint-Saënsa. Razem z Cezarem Franckiem reprezentuje on narodową muzykę francuską. "Pavane" to kompozycja skomponowana latem 1887 roku. The full story of Furé's "Pavane" still comes as a surprice to many who are used to hearing the piece played as a solemn piece of late Romanticism. Fauré composed the work in the summer of 1887, originally as a purely orchestral piece for the concert series of the Parisian conductor Jules Danbé. Danbé appears to have left it unperformed, a decision he must later have regretted when the piece become immensely popular in various forms for orchestra or piano, with or without voices. In dedicating the "Pavane" to the Vicomtesse Elisabeth de Greffulhe, a great patron of the arts who gave him much moral and financial support, Fauré was certainly hoping for a performance at her salon.
