Contemporary Rhythm and Meter Duets for Treble Clef Instruments
Based on the concept of Contemporary Rhythm and Meter Studies, these 14, 2 page duets make extensive use of metric and rhythmic devices, and harmonic and tonal devices commonly found in 20th century works. They are ideal for any instrument. This series of fourteen duets makes use of contemporary rhythmic, harmonic and tonal devices. Each duet is identified by the tonal or scalic material featured in the work. It is haped that the performers will familiarize themselves with the raw material of each duet (i.e. scale type, interyals and chords) in order to facilitate performance. Pay very close attention bo both the liner and vertical aspects of intonation as the harmonies can be quite dissonant at times. Performes should learn both parts of each duet since they were somposed as being equally important. Note the formal aspects of each duet in order to fully understand the contrast and return elements of each. The duets may be grouped together to be porformed during recitals, solo and ensemble festivals and so forth.
