Prezentowany Koncert A-dur został skomponowany przez Mozarta jesienią 1782 roku w Wiedniu. Dzieło powstało z dedykacją dla jego ojca. Zarówno ten koncert, jak i dwa inne (K. 414, 415) powstały w tym samym czasie. Prezentowane opracowanie przeznaczone jest na duet dwóch fortepianów. Aranżacji dokonał Isidor Philipp.

This Concerto was written in the autumn of 1782 at Vienna and first published by Artaria & Co. in 1785. Concerning this work and two others composed at about the same time (K. 413, 415), Mozart wrote to his father on December 28, 1782: "These concertos are a happy medium between what is too easy and too difficult; they are very brilliant, pleasing to the ear, and natural, without being vapid. There are passages here and there from which connoisseurs alone can derive satisfaction, but these passages are written in such a way that the less learned cannot fail to be pleased, although without knowing why".
All the cadenzas in the present edition are by Mozart.

Toccata primarily means a touch piece, usually associated with rapid touch of the keys. The framework of this toccata is from the 16th century, and is in the standard 5-part form, but slightly modified. The opening is the Toccata up to the Melodic part (harpsichord and recorder), followed by an Episode of quickly changing scenes, then back to the Melodic section, and ending with the Toccata. Hence, the 5-part form: TMEMT. The toccata form was used many times as a fanfare, as it is here for FRESH AIRE III.
