Johann Christoph Pachelbel (1653 - 1706) był niemiecki kompozytorem, organistą i nauczycielem muzyki okresu baroku. Przedstawiana kompozycja, słynny kanon na troje skrzypiec i basso continouo,jest powszechnie najbardziej znaną w dorobku kompozytora. Utwór odznacza się progresją akordów i charakterystycznym dla kanonu nieustannym powtarzaniem się melodii we wszystkich głosach. Gigue został napisany w tej samej tonacji co kanon, jednak wyraźnie różni się od kanonu swoim tanecznym rytmem. Utwór powszechnie często grywa się na weselach, jest też często składową częścią płyt cd, jako jedna z ważniejszych kompozycji muzyki baroku. The designation of the Canon und gigue as being for three violins and continuo leads easily to the supposition that this grand piece of music will also have been played on the occasion of the weeding in Ohrdruf. It is that most of Pachelbel's chamber music were lost in war actions. The following gigue is written in the same key as the canon, and offers in contarst merely the typiucal 12/8 gigue dance rhythm. Johann Pachelbel, the renowned organist, teacher and composer, born in 1653 in Nuremberg and trained in the Southern German region, spent importanty years of his life in Thyringia. He went to Eisenach in 1677 (he was on close termas with Johann Sebastian Bach.s father Ambrosius), spent the nest twelve years as organist at the Prediger church in Erfurt (1678 - 1690) and then was court organist in Stuttgart for two years (1690 - 1692). Johann Pachelbel (1653 - 1706) to niemiecki kompozytor, organista i pedagog okresu baroku. Czwarty zeszyt "Dzieł organowych" Pachelbela zawiera szereg różnych form utworów organowych uprawianych przez tego kompozytora, m. in. toccaty, preludia, fugi, czy fantazje. Jednym z celów edytora tej publikacji było zebranie w jednym zeszycie utworów w piętnastu różnych tonacjach, kompozycji które mogły by zostać kolejno wykonane w ramach jednego recitalu. This organ works making up this volume have been selected from three angles of consideration in which the editors have endeavored: 1. to reveal the diversity of forms employed by Pachelbel; 2. to compile a collection of pieces in 15 different keys, and arrenge them in ascending chromatic order so as to provide organists with a practical set of Pachelbel's works, in which case has been taken to include a variety of compositions in the same key, playable on manuals only or with the use of pedals; 3. to create works of length suitable for recital purposes by categorically arranging certain sets of compositions. Kilkutomowy zbiór ''Orgelwerke'' zawiera różne utwory organowe Pachelbela, między innymi: 3 przygrywki chorałowe, chorały, preludia, fugi, oraz utwory nieokreślone gatunkowo. Prezentowana część to zbiór dwudziestu utworów opartych na melodii chorałów protestanckich w opracowaniu na organy. Część utworów, które znalazły się w tej publikacji, należą do innych zbiorów, przykładowo 3 preludia chorałowe nr: 7, 16 i 19 pochodzą ze zbioru: ''Osiem Preludiów Chorałowych''. This edition includes three of the ''Eight Choral Preludes'' viz. No's. 7, 16 and 19. No's. 5 and 6 are fuges based on the opening lines of the chorals, to which they originally served as preludes. No's.10, 14 and 18 are Bicinien, or two-part compositions, which, if they are to be treated effectively, will require two separate manuals for their performance. No's. 9, 11, 13, 15 and 20 are three-part works in which the cantus firmus appears on the pedals. Complete contrast is provided by Choral No. 8 which, having the c. f. in the treble, is treatet in a melismatic style, in which motivic anticipatory imitation prevails in the individual lines of the choral. This selection of Pachelbel's Magnificat Fugues has been restricted teo two compositions representative of each tone, the first written for manuals only, being followed by a version for manuals and pedals. The actual theme of the Magnificat seldom appears in its entriety, being confined, in the majority of cases, to a mere allusive statement. The composer expressly stipulates the use of two manuals for the performance of fugues no's. 5 and 15. The elaborate forms encountered in the double fugues no's. 12 and 16 of this volume, in which the two different subjects are first treated separately and later combined, bear direct relation to the complex forms of writing associated with J. Johann Pachelbel (1653 - 1706) to niemiecki kompozytor i organista działający w okresie baroku. Prezentowana publikacja zawiera dwanaście wybranych utworów na klawesyn lub fortepian Pachelbela. Są to kompozycje o różnych formach m. in. złożona z szeregu tańców "Suita E-dur", wirtuozowska "Fantazja g-moll", opracowanie chorału "Der Tag, der ist so freudenreich" oraz "Aria a-moll" - aria instrumentalna z sześcioma wariacjami, pochodząca z wydanego w 1699 roku zbioru dzieł Pachelbela - "Hexachordum Apollinis". Johann Pachelbel (1653 - 1706), a citizen of Nuremberg, was active in Vienna and Thuringia prior to his appointment of organist at St. Sebald's church in his native city. He is an intermediary between the southern and northern tendencies of German baroque, and also constitutes a link between Froberger and Bach. Generally speaking, however, his writing is individual and a model of elegance and style corresponding to the middle periode of baroque. In order not to embarrass the player who may on his own initiative desire to expend intelligent thought on the text, it should be stated that additions have been very springly incorporated.
