The aim of these studies is to impart to the voice ample flaxability and smoothness, so that it may be rendered capable of executing, with ease and elegance, coloratura passages and embellishments contained in the words of our great composers. They should assist the Vocalist in the same way that Czaerny's ''School of Velocity'' does the Pianist. Starting from the principle that it is impractical to practise several difficult passagesat a time. I begin with exercises for 2, 3 and 4 tones, in order to advance by steps to more difficult exercises, leaving in to the discretion of the teacher gradually to transpose them a semitone up or down.
