Anton Reicha (1770 - 1836) to czeski kompozytor, flecista i teoretyk muzyki francuskiego pochodzenia. Jest on autorem oper, a także wielu dzieł instrumentalnych (m. in. skomponował liczne kwartety smyczkowe). Niniejsza publikacja zawiera "Wariacje na dwa flety" Antona Reichy. Jest to utwór w formie tematu z wariacjami. Temat w tonacji D-dur (Allegretto scherzando) jest podstawą sześciu następujących bezpośrednio po sobie wariacji. Prezentowana publikacja została wydana w oparciu o wersję kompozycji znajdującą się obecnie w Muzeum Narodowym w Pradze. Anton Reicha, born in Prague in 1770, died in Paris in 1836. He started his musical career as a flutist in the Elector's orchestra in Bonn. He became a friend of Beethoven who plyed the viola in the same orchestra. After staying three years in Paris, Reicha lived frm 1802 to 1808 in Vienna where he renewed his friedship with Beethoven. From 1809 he again lived in Paris where he became famous not only as a composer of operas and instrumental works but also as a authority on music theory. He become a teacher of composition at the Conservatoire. This edition of "Variations for Two Flutes" is based on a contemporary printing a copy which may be found in the National Museum, Prague. He was born in Carlisle, England, son of the famous soprano Ena Mitchell. He began playing the cornet at the age of four and when he was seven years old he began to play regularly in the theatre.
