Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710 - 1736) był włoskim kompozytorem, skrzypkiem i organistą epoki baroku. Zmarł w wieku 26 lat, chorując na gruźlicę. Mimo tego pozostawił po sobie liczny dorobek artystyczny. Do najsłynniejszych dzieł Pergolesiego należą opery seria i buffa oraz ''Stabat Mater'', ukończone przez kompozytora na kilka dni przed śmiercią. Oprócz tego Pergolesi tworzył również sonaty, oratoria, psalmy, kantaty, motety i msze. Znaczna liczba utworów, które przypisuje się kompozytorowi, przypisywana jest błędnie. Pergolesi napisał kilka instrumentalnych utworów świeckich, w tym sonaty na skrzypce oraz koncert skrzypcowy.''Triosonate" to utwór na trio w składzie: dwoje skrzypiec i klawesyn lub wiolonczela. The here published edition of the third and fourth sonatas follows a manuscript with the signature 1/Q/1 in the possesion of the Saxon State Library in Dresden. Among the manuscripts at the Deutsche Staatbibliothek in Berlin are two autographs by Ludwig van Beethoven which have gone rather unnoticed until recently. They are the Signature Mus. ms. autogr. Beethoven Artaria 186 and Mus. ms. autogr. (Beethoven) Grasnick 23 with compositions without instrumentation markings. Georg Kinsky proved these to be music for flute - clock.
