Johann Joachim Quantz (1697 - 1773) to niemiecki flecista, pedagog i kompozytor. Pośród jego ogromnej ilości dzieł można odnaleźć aż 286 koncertów na flet, dwoje skrzypiec, altówkę i basso continuo. Do niektórych swoich koncertów na flet i orkiestrę Quanz w części wolnej dokomponował również partie dodatkowego instrumentu solowego. Niniejsza publikacja - "Koncert na flet, fagot (ad libitum), orkiestrę smyczkową i basso continuo" Quanza w opracowaniu na flet i fortepian - jest przykładem takiej kompozycji. About 120 of them were composed in Dresden, - Quanz was a member of the royal court musicians till 1741 -, but all the others appeard in Potsdam during his activity as a flute teacher and composer of chamber music at court of Frederick II. The concerto for flute, basson (ad lib.), strings and basso continuo G-dur, here presented as the first edition, appeard in 1769 as one of the few flute concertos which are supplemented by a second solo instrument in the slow movement.
