Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz urodził się w Krakowie w 1805 roku w rodzinie szlacheckiej. Należał do grupy najwybitniejszych gitarzystów epoki, do której zaliczeni zostali jeszcze trzej polscy wirtuozi: Feliks Horecki, Marek Sokołowski i Stanisław Szczepanowski. Jeszcze jako dziecko rozpoczął naukę gry na gitarze pod kierunkiem swojego ojca. Kształcił się później u Mauro Giulianiego w Wiedniu. W 1822 roku został przyjęty do Krakowskiego Towarzystwa Muzycznego. Brał udział w koncertach wielu odwiedzających Kraków artystów oraz występował jako solista, zyskując sławę znakomitego wykonawcy.
Bobrowicz był gitarzystą - wirtuozem, jak również znakomitym kompozytorem. Napisał około 70 utworów, z czego zachowało się około 50. Są to wariacje, fantazje, marsze, walce, polonezy, transkrypcje pieśni na głos z gitarą i transkrypcje utworów Chopina.
Niniejsza publikacja zawiera utwór "Distraction rondeau brillant et facile" z op. 17 i jest to pierwsze polskie wydanie tego utworu.

Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz was born on 1805 in Crawo, Poland, to the family of the Polish gentry. He belong to the most extaordinary guitar players of his time, along with three Polish virtuosos, namely Feliks Horecki, Marek Sokolowski ans Stanislaw Szczepnowski. Still as a child Bobrowicz started guitar lessons under his father's guideance. Later on he studied at Mauro Giuliani's in Vienna. In 1822 Bobrowicz was admitted to the Cracow Music Society. He participated in numerous concerts played by the artists visiting Cracowa and performer as a soloist achieving fame as an outstanding performer. Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz was not only guitar player and virtuoso but a composer, as well. He issued about 70 compositions, of which have been preserved. These are variations, marches, waltzes, polonaises, transcriptions of Chopin piece of music.
This is the very first Polish edition.

Publikacja zawiera 10 utworów pochodzących ze sztuki - komedii Williama Szekspira - "Sen nocy letniej". Powstała około 1595 i obecnie jest to jedna z najczęściej granych sztuk tego autora. Po raz pierwszy dzieło to zostało wydane w 1600 roku przez Thomasa Fishera - znanego księgarza. Ponowne wydanie wznowiono w 1619 roku i w 1623, jako część tzw. "Pierwszego Folio".

The present edition contains the first part of a selection of these pieces in an arrangement for four stringed instruments (string quartet or small string orchestra) and basso continuo (the source is vol. XII of the great complete edition, "The works of Henry Purcell"); the second part was published as No. 58 of Hortus Musicus. It is worth pointing out here that the pieces in both parts are well suited to performance with wind instruments (especially flutes, oboes or a bassoon), particularly when the string parts are taken by an orchestra.

The present adaptations may be performed on any kind of electronic organ. Because of the diversity of the organs, the given registering is only informatory in character, but it is easy to achieve n the Hammond system electrostatic organ, as well as on the Hohner, Farsifa, Eminent, Vox-organ, Yamaha, Weltmeister and Matador transistorized organs. In the case of a small Combo organ the bass part written in smal score should be played on the double bass or on an electric bass guitar. The latter should be joined to the common sound amplifying system. If a single - manual organ without a pedal is used, the harmonies may be transferred, together with the bass, for the left hand. The switching of manuals can be simplified by re-registering or manual division.
The diapason of the pieces corresponds to the compass of the generally manufactured instruments. In some places the double bass should play one octave higher.
