Publikacja zawiera współczesne utwory zebrane i opracowane przez Richarda Allisona. Utwory podzielone są na dwie kategorie: E i F będące stopniami trudności. W obecnym wydaniu utwory przeznaczone są dla pianistów średniozaawansowanych. Na końcu książki zawarto skale muzyczne i akordy również podzielone na grupy E i F. Niniejsze opracowanie powstało w oparciu o pierwszą edycję dzieła opublikowanego przez wydawnictwo Ries@ Erler w Berlinie w 1893 r. i udostępnionego przez Bibliotekę Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Propozycje wykonawcze dotyczące smyczkowań autora są oznaczone określeniami zmian kierunku smyczka przy zachowaniu ciągłości legata. Proponowana aplikatura częściowo zgodna jest z sugestią dziewiętnastowiecznego wydawcy; zmodyfikowano ja sporadycznie dla uzyskania większych walorów brzmieniowych.

Już gram na fortepian to zbiór 18 utworów, w których kompozytor umiejętnie połączył zagadnienia techniki i rytmu z atrakcyjną stroną melodyczno-wyrazową, dzięki czemu trudności stały się łatwe do pokonania, a utwory przyjemne do grania i do słuchania.
