Utwór "Le Api" Antonio Pasculli'ego na obój i fortepian został po raz pierwszy wydany w 1905 roku i dedykowany Konserwatorium Muzycznemu w Palermo. "Le Api" jest bardzo podobny do "Lotu trzmiela" Nikolaja Rimskiego-Korsakowa, jednak utwór Pasculliego został napisany wcześniej. Pierwsze publiczne wykonanie "Le Api" miało miejsce 14 lipca 1874 roku w Konserwatorium Muzycznym w Milan. The study Le Api for oboe and piano was first published in 1905 and was dedicated to the "Conservatorio di Musica di Palermo". Some similitarity to Rimskij-Korsakov's Flight of the bumble-bee may be apparent, as both composers give a sound picture of insects; however, Pasculli wrote his piece before Rimskij-Korsakow. From a postscript to the third study we learn that the three characteristic studies were first performed in the big hall of the "Conservatorio di musica" in Milan on July 14, 1874. The long legato ties can only be played with "circular breathing technique", however, even without this breathing technique the study can be played in sections and this way is a most valuable technical exercise. Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897) to niemiecki kompozytor, pianista i dyrygent okresu romantyzmu. Jest on autorem licznych kompozycji fortepianowych. Do muzyki na ten instrument Brahms przenosił zdobycze faktury symfonicznej (np. zdwojenia interwałów, czy kontrasty rejestrów). Jego dzieła fortepianowe cechują się syntezą romantycznej ekspresji z klasyczną symetrią. Zeszyt piąty "Dzieł fortepianowych" jest wyborem różnych kompozycji Brahmsa na fortepian. Wśród utworów odnaleźć można m.in. szesnaście walców z opusu 39, dziesięć tańców węgierskich (skomponowanych w oparciu o węgierskie melodie ludowe), 5 etiud naśladujących styl muzyki fortepianowej słynnych kompozytorów - Chopina, Webera i Bacha oraz 51 typowo edukacyjnych, rozwijających umiejętności techniczne wprawek (m.in. ćwiczenia na dwudźwięki, akordy, pasaże). Wszystkie utwory zostały wydane w oparciu o oryginalne rękopisy Brahmsa (urtext). In this new edition of Johannes Brahms' Piano Works the results of scholary research into authentic sources of revision have been combined with the experience of international concert practise and established academic principles of interpretation. Serving as a basis for the preparation of this revision was the edition of "Brahms' Complete Works" undertaken in 1926 - 1928 by Eusebius Mandyczewski, archivist of the "Gesekkschaft der Musikfreunde", Vienna. This edition, based on a comparison of the manuscripts used in compiling the original editions as well as the composer's own amendments in manuscript form, may be looked upon with authority and is veryfied in the editor's critical analysis of thwe revision.
