Zbiór składa się z 12 następujących kompozycji Henryka Wieniawskiego: Kujawiak a-moll, Polonaise brillante D-dur, Souvenir de Moscou, Sielanka, Pieśń polska, Legenda, Obertas, Dudziarz, Gigue oraz Trzy kaprysy: Prélude, La Vélocité, Le Chant du Bivouac. Utwory przejrzane zostały przez znakomitych polskich pedagogów A. Cofalika, I. Dubiską, Z. Jahnkego, E. Umińską.

Kompozycje Wieniawskiego wykonywane przez samego autora zawsze cieszyły się olbrzymim aplauzem, podejmowane przez kolejnych skrzypków weszły na stałe do literatury skrzypcowej ciesząc się niezmiennym powodzeniem. Do ich popularności i rozpowszechnienia przyczynił się niewątpliwie trwający od 1935 roku Międzynarodowy Konkurs im. H. Wieniawskiego.

Etiudy Carla Czernego "Petite Vélocité" na fortepian należy do utworów przeznaczonych dla pianistów średnio zaawansowanych. Czerny był pierwszym kompozytorem, który użył słowa etiuda ("studium") jako tytuł utworu muzycznego. Był znakomitym pedagogiem a jednym z jego uczniów był Franciszek Liszt, który - kiedy sam osiągnął szczyt wirtuozerii kompozytorsko-pianistycznej - zadedykował swojemu mistrzowi Dwanaście Etiud Transcendentalnych.
