Charles Gounod (ur. 17 czerwca 1818 w Paryżu, zm. 18 października 1893 w Saint-Cloud) to wybitny francuski kompozytor operowy. Uznanie przyniosła mu pierwsza opera skomponowana w 1851 roku pt. "Sapho". Niniejsza publikacja zawiera operę "Romeo i Julia" z 1867 roku, zawartą w pięciu aktach. Autorami libretta opartego o dzieło Szekspira są J. Barbier i M. Carré. Akcja opery rozgrywa się w czasach renesansu w mieście Werona. W obecnym wydaniu dzieło opracowane jest na głosy wokalne solowe: sopran, mezzosopran, tenor, baryton i bas, chór SATB i fortepian (wyciąg partii orkiestry). "Romeo and Juliet" had tempted many opera - composers before Gounod. Among them may be mentioned Dalayrac, Steibelt, Zingarelli, Vaccai, Bellini, and Marchetti, while Hector Berlioz had made it the subject of a dramatic symphony. The librettists of "Faust", Jules Barbier and Michael Carré arranged the book, which some dramatic critics hav praised as being an admirable adaptation of Shakespeare's play. Mlle. de Bovet, a French biographer of Gounod, has very sensibly said, however, that "all Jules Barbier's cleverness could not make the plot other than a love-duet, or rather a succession of love-duets". Publikacja zawiera dwa utwory na puzon: Łukasza Godyli i Jakuba Polaczyka, skomponowane na V Konkurs Kompozytorski im. Tadeusza Ochlewskiego w 2007 roku. "Circulations for solo trombone" is built from seven segments based on intervallic structures ranging from the smallest to the largest intervals. The introduction and the ending are based on a fragment of a series of harmonics: the work starts with the note F, proceeds to the highest possible note and then returns to the note F in the final segment. The form involving the passing through the particular intervals in the segments as well as the introduction and its mirror reflection in the ending gives the work a circular scheme, hence the title of the work.
