Rossini Gioacchino Antonio Stabat Mater for Solists, Choir and Orchestra Stabat Mater na solistów, chór i orkiestrę Stabat Mater for Solists, Choir and Orchestra Stabat Mater für Soli, Chor und Orchester
"Stabat Mater" to wiersz średniowieczny opisujący cierpienia Matki Boskiej pod krzyżem Chrystusa. Był on wykorzystywany przez wielu kompozytorów różnych okresów (m.in. przez Vivaldiegp, Gounoda, czy Pendereckiego). Prezentowana publikacja zawiera "Stabat Mater" skomponowane przez Gioacchino Rossiniego (1792-1868). Dzieło przeznaczone jest na czterech solistów (sopran I, sopran II, tenor i bas), mieszny chór (SATB) oraz orkiestrę (tu zastąpioną wyciągiem fortepianowym). Apart from a few juvenile Mass settings, sacred music played a very small part in Rossini's output until 1829, the year in which his final opera Guillaume Tell was premiered. Even as late as 1841 he responded to a question from Francois-Joseph Fetis, asking whether he intended to compose for the church, by retoring "Do you take me for a learned musician?". It was therefore astonishing that his Stabat Mater Rossini neverthless created an outstanding piece of sacred music, all the more so as the work owes its origins and publication to a series of fortuitous accidents.
