Dietrich Buxtehude (urodzony prawdopodobnie ok. 1637 roku) to kompozytor i organista działający w okresie baroku. Niewiele wiadomo o jego życiu. Znany jest m. in. fakt, że jego ojciec - Hans Buxtehude - również był organistą. Uważa się, że twórczość Dietricha Buxtehudego wywarła ogromny wpływ na styl kompozytorski Jana Sebastiana Bacha. Podstawę dzieł organowych Buxtehudego (licznych fug, fantazji, toccat, przygrywek), podobnie jak utworów Bacha, stanowi chorał protestancki. Również tytuł oraz forma "Preludiów i fug" Buxtehudego zostały zapożyczone przez Bacha. Niniejsze wydanie Petersa z 1938 roku zawiera Preludia i Fugi, Toccaty, Passacaglia, Ciacone i Canzonetty na organy. There is a difference in the significance of the title "Prelude und Fugue" in the compositions of Bach and in those of Buxtehude. Buxtehude belongs to a generation before Bach and his organ works were given this name by his pupils and their pupils again, who could not more understand the inner significance and structure of these forms. In contrast to the clear two-part division of the preludes and fugues of Bach, Buxtehude's consist of one movement in which we find the most varied compressed content. This form originated in a blending of the Toccata and the Canzone, two elements which are by nature heterogeneous. Lista utworów: |
