Saint-Saëns Camille Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 167 Sonata na klarnet i fortepian, op. 167 Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 167 Sonate für Klarinette und Klavier, op. 167
Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921) to kompozytor i pianista, najsłynniejszy artysta francuski tworzący po Hektorze Berliozie. Saint-Saëns przyczynił się znacznie do rozwoju francuskiej muzyki symfonicznej. Z powodzeniem tworzył on niemal wszystkie gatunki i formy muzyczne. "Sonata na klarnet i fortepian" op. 167 powstała w 1921 roku, tuż przed śmiercią Saint-Saënsa. To kompozycja w harmonii dur - moll, nawiązująca stylistyką do dzieł Debussy'ego, Couperina i Rameau. Złożona jest z czterech części: cz. I - Allegretto, cz. II - Allegro animato, cz. III - Lento, cz. IV - Molto allegro. Camillle Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921), alongside César Franck the most significant French composer in the period after Berlioz, devotes himself mainly to instrumental music. His gratest merit is his pionieer achivements in this field at a time when light, melodious music was the fashionable norm in French concert life. As opposed to this Saint-Saëns had once more set high standads of technical perfection and form and, by his own example, advanced symphonic style, which was considered old-fashioned and erudite. Many younger composers in the last third of the 19th century owed the begining of their artistic careers to an institution which was a creation of Saint-Saëns: the "Société Nationale de Musique".
