Kilar Wojciech IV symfonia - Symfonia o ruchu (partytura) IV symfonia - Symfonia o ruchu (partytura) Symphony No. 4 - Symphony of Motion (Score)
Motto muzyczne dzieła to wspomnianych pięć dźwięków: G (stała grawitacji), e (ładunek elektronu), c (prędkość światła), h (stała Plancka) oraz a - pierwsza litera słowa atom. The idea behind the symphony involves the meeting of two attitudes regarding the view of the world and an attempt at expressing the clash in music of the notion of purely physical movement with the Danteian notion of movement and its Author. Wojciech Kilar's most recent work is entitled Sinfonia de motu (Symphony of Motion). The composer based the initial idea on five notes, which are at the same time symbols used in physics, for the work was commissioned by Polish phycisists to mark the World Year of Physics. The result is a monumental, one-hour long symphony for full orchestra with quadruple parts for wind instruments, choir and two soloists. Wojciech Kilar also used texts from the Divine Comedy by Dante. The musical motto of the work consists of the above-mentioned five notes: G (constant of gravitation), e (electron charge), c (speed of light), h (Planck's constant) and a - the first letter of the word "atom". It is from them that the first, purely instrumental movement of the symphony, entitled Selva (The Forest) is constructed. It develops gradually from a majestic, dark "largo" to its luminous ending. The second movement, Cammino (The Way), an aalegro moderato, is based on the scherzo form and is crowned with the baritone solo part. The third movement, Luce (Light), is a lyrical climax of the entire work. Wojciech Kilar gives that adagio the form of a lyrical recapitulation scored for soprano and baritone. And finally, the fourth movement, Amor (Love), is the most extended. In reality, it is a monumental cantata ivolving the soloists, choir and orchestra, used to the fullest extent, brass instruments and percussion featuring strongly. The subtle, unaccompanied chorus, dissolving in the musical cosmos, with the repetition of the final text "L'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle", forms its lyric crowning piece. The world premiere of Sinfonia de motu took place on 12 September 2005 in the National Philharmonic to mark the 38th Congress of Polish Physicist held in Warsaw at that time. Two days later the concert was repeated at the Wratislavia Cantans festival. Lista utworów: |
