Debussy Claude Syrinx for Flute Solo Syrinx na flet solo Syrinx for Flute Solo Syrinx für Flöte solo Syrinx pour flute seule
In orchestras or ensamble the flute plays an important part. However, it seldom appears as a solo instrument. Neverthless, from baroque to modern times it has again and again tempted outstanding composers to extend and vary their range of expression by composing for solo flute. Gabriel Mourey portrayed the death of the god Pan in his drama "Psyche" and Debussy supplied background music to this scene in the shape of his flute melody "Syrinx" (composed in 1912), which is evolved in the spirit of the musicality of french poetry.
