Zeszyt 1. zawiera 139 ćwiczeń wskazujących na różnorodne problemy techniczne, jakie można napotkać podczas pierwszych czterech lub pięciu lat gry. Całość podzielona jest na 9 rozdziałów, z których każdy dotyczy innego zagadnienia, między innymi: "Podstawowe etiudy", "Etiudy na lewą rękę", "Chromatyka" czy "Ozdobniki". For the present volume of studies material was compiled with great care, which reflects the multiplicity of technical disciplines to be mastered and which is intended for use during the first four or five years of training. The same variety is also shown by the choice of representative authors and in the extension of the traditional range of scales by the inclusion of studies in contemporary playing style. The arrangement according to subject matter (elementary studies, studies for special ways of bowing, position studies, rhythmical studies, chromaticism, ornaments, double stop studies) allows the teacher to obtain a good general survey in the composition of subject matter of instruction, in particular in view of the progressive arrangement of subject matter within the different groups.
