Saint-Saëns Camille Concerto No. 1 in A minor for Violoncello and Orchestra, Op. 33 Koncert nr 1 a-moll na wiolonczelę i orkiestrę, op. 33 Concerto No. 1 in A minor for Violoncello and Orchestra, Op. 33 Konzert Nr. 1 a-Moll für Violoncello und Orchester, Op. 33
Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921), together with Césare Franck, is the most important French composer of the period after Berlioz. With his large number of works in the most extremely differing categories - especially in symphonic music - he played an essential part in th revival of French concert music beyond the middle of the 19th century. With the "First Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in A minor, Op. 33 (1873), Saint-Saëns adhered to the customary French concerto form which had been evolved in elegant style by Pierre Rode, G. B. Viotti and Rodolphe Kreuztzer. In the first movement the soloist introduces himself as a virtuoso. In the second, he sparkles with a cantabile melody, most often a romancem and in a finale he evinces his skill in performing delicate passages and in a sense of entertainment. Lista utworów: |
