"The Art of Fingering" to cykl 12 Preludiów fortepianowych, które Soulima Stravinsky skomponował z myślą o swoich studentach. Soulima zauważył u nich niechęć do ćwiczeń technicznych, stąd jego pomysł na prezentowane utwory, które w przyjemniejszy sposób pozwalają udoskonalić technikę gry. "I found that my students did not like to practice technique. I wrote these pieces (The Art of Scales and The Art of Fingering) for them to practice technique in a more pleasing way". With this statement by the composer to this editor, it seems evident that Soulima Stravinsky intended to create a body of pedagogical musical material lying somewhere between Czerny's The Art of Finger Dexterity and Bartók's Mikrokosmos. Primarily written as technical studies, they neverthless introduce glimpses of enchantingly haunting figures, phrases and patterns that lie at the very essence of Soulima Stravinsky's music. Conscientious observance of all the composer's fingerings and phrasing is of obvious importance if one is to gain the fullest benefits and results of this work. Lista utworów: |
