Zeszyt jest zbiorem 12 krótkich utworów lutniowych muzyki dawnej skomponowanych przez Johna Dowlanda (1563 - 1626) - popularnego gitarzysty, lutnisty i kompozytora. Transkrypcji na gitarę klasyczną dokonał Chris Kilvington. Przed każdą notacją nutową został zamieszczony krótki opis utworów, a także uwagi dotyczące sposobów gry (w języku angielskim). John Dowland (1563 - 1626) was one of the finest lutenists of the Elizabethan era, holding during his lifetime a number of important positions in several European countries. The most notable of these was as Royal Lutenist (1598 - 1606) at the Court of King Christian IV of Denmark where he received a stupendous salary which neberthless failed to prevent him from incurring an almost perpetual debt, leading to his eventual dismissal. A man of enigmatic and melancholy disposition, his talents were not recognised by Queen Elizabeth I; however, he found favour elsewhere in England as evidenced by the numerous aristocratic dedications, indicating both patronage, and familiarity with the highest society. He was eventually appoined in 1612 as one of the Lutes to James I, a post he mainted until his death. Lista utworów: |
