Unfortunately, the number of original solo works for trumpet written by the great composers after the baroque period is very limited. In the second half of the eighteenth century, baroque music with its prominent nad high trumpet parts became out of vogue. In the subsequent classics period, there was ony a supporting role for the trumpet. This was ;argely due to the fact that the valves. For many composers, the limitations in the low and central register of the earlier used natural trumpet were a reason to ignore the instrument. Howevver, our modern trumpet basically offers all possibilities to play the most diverse musical styles. The arranging and transcribing of existing pieces is therefore obvious. This album offers a varied selection of classical solos that, baside the technical challenge, are great to study and perform.
