W książce znajdują się menuety, allegretta, wariacje, ronda, siciliany, fantazje fortepianowe Wolfganga Amadeusa Mozarta. Twórczość fortepianowa Mozarta przypada na okres jego pobytu w Wiedniu. Wtedy też był nauczycielem, komponował, oraz koncertował. Utwory zawarte w publikacji pochodzą z lat 1782 - 1786. Punkt kulminacji twórczości fortepianowej zawarty jest w 17 koncertach fortepianowych. Nastąpiło w nich zrewolucjonizowanie stylu koncertowego - kompozytor nadał im swobodną budowę, a instrument solowy wykorzystuje w pełni swoje możliwości techniczne.
Throughout his life in Vienna, Mozart made a living by playing the piano, giving piano lessons and composing music for the piano. The piano had a different significance for him than it does for pianists nowadays. The instrument itself was different: smaller than the modern one, weaker in volume, though offering more opportunities for producing contrasts in dynamics (hence its name during Mozart's time, fortepiano). On the fortepiano it was possible to produce more refined tone colours with greater nuances than pianos can nowadays, and most importantly the individual voices were easier to distinguish. Mozart was also a great piano virtuoso as an adult.
