In the case of a small Combo organ the bass part written in smal score should be played on the double bass or on an electric bass guitar. The latter should be joined to the common sound amplifying system. If a single - manual organ without a pedal is used, the harmonies may be transferred, together with the bass, for the left hand. Niniejsza publikacja jest pierwszą częścią kolekcji czeskiej muzyki organowej. Zawiera utwory przeznaczone głównie na organy romantyczne. Instrument ten znacznie różni się od typowych organów XVIII - wiecznych. Na organach romantycznych możliwe jest wydobycie ciemnego dźwięku i znacznie cichszego, przez co niemożliwe jest osiągnięcie brzmienia orkiestrowego. Stąd utwory polifoniczne grane są w większości na organach XVIII - wiecznych. W publikacji zawarto utwory czeskich kompozytorów takich, jak: Bedrich Smetana, Antonin Dvorak, Frantiek Musil, Leo Janáček, Jos. Boh. Foerster, Josef Klička, Eduard Tregler, Vítezslav Novák, Bedř. Ant. Wiedermann i Frantiek Michálek. This compositions included in this collection were almost exclusively written for the organ of the romantic type. This instrument greatly differs from the classic organ of the eighteenth century, which is due chiefly to its lack of the glossy and transparent sound designed for the reproduction of polyphonic compositions, it possesses on the contary a dense and sombre colouring which in various registers attempts to reach as much as possible the character of orchestral instruments. These qualities predestinate the romantic organ mainly to the reproduction of homophonous compositions. The chronologic arrangement of this collection shows best of all how the change from the classic organ into the romantic type corresponded with the transition from polyphony into homophony. While the compositions of Smetana and Dvorak have a pronouncedly contrapuntal character due to the purpose for which they were written, Musil's Sonata is with its homophonous signs a transitory type, and Janacek's Adagios fully possess the character of orchestral compositions. The Czech romantic organ music reaches its height in the compositions of Klicka, Foerster, and Tregler, which allow to profit as much as possible by the orchestral colours of the romantic organ. Siódmy zeszyt "Dzieł organowych" zawiera czterdzieści cztery kompozycje na organy Jana Sebastiana Bacha. Publikacja ta gromadzi w sobie wybrane preludia chorałowe, ułożone w porządku alfabetycznym. Jest ona ciekawym źródłem utworów skomponowanych w oparciu o ten sam chorał. Kompozycje te świadczą o niezwykłej inwencji twórczej Bacha (np. słynny chorał "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland" posiada aż siedem wersji). Pośród utworów odnaleźć można również popularne preludium "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" BWV 645. Ściśle związany z liturgią kościoła protestanckiego chorał stał się podstawą i główną inspiracją niemal całej twórczości Bacha. Znajduje się on nie tylko w jego dziełach organowych, lecz również kantatach, oratoriach oraz pasjach. J. S. Bach's choral-preludes have been handed down to us partly in form of collections put up by the master's own hand, partly in single autographs and contemporary copies. The "Little Organ-Book", has been reproduced in accordance with the edition of Griepenkerl and Roitzsch in the preceding volume. All the preludes still left have been gathered up in the two following volumes (vol VI and VII), with the only exception of some pieces, which have been discovered only recently. To save the player the trouble of looking up titles at different places, the chorals have been reproduced in alphabetic order here also. Dietrich Buxtehude (urodzony prawdopodobnie ok. 1637 roku) to duński lub niemiecki kompozytor i organista działający w XVII wieku, czyli w okresie baroku. Niewiele wiadomo o jego życiu. Znany jest m. in. fakt, że jego ojciec - Hans Buxtehude - również był organistą. Uważa się, że twórczość Dietricha Buxtehudego wywarła ogromny wpływ na styl kompozytorski Jana Sebastiana Bacha. Podstawę dzieł organowych Buxtehudego (licznych fug, fantazji, toccat, przygrywek), podobnie jak utworów Bacha, stanowi chorał protestancki. Ponadto tytuł oraz forma licznych "Preludiów i fug" Buxtehudego zostały zapożyczone przez Bacha. Prezentowana publikacja zawiera dwadzieścia cztery preludia chorałowe Buxtehudego m. in. oparte o melodię chorałów "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland" oraz "Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ". Nad pięciolinią zamieszczono fragmenty tekstów chorałów w języku niemieckim. Buxtehude's Chorale Preludes for organ are less known and have so far been less valued than his Preludes and Fugues. This may be due partly to superficials causes, still more, however, they are marked by certain intrinsic qualities that have seemed to justify Spitta's sentence of their "inferior merit". These compositions are, in fact, less accessible at first hearing than the Chorale Preludes of Pachelbel and Wlather, their pre-eminence over the works of the numerous lesser masters of thath age is only now becoming apparent, through the countless new edition that have brought to light again in our time the German art of the "Organ Chorale" which flourished c. 1700.
