Jean Xavier Lefevre (1763 - 1829) urodził się w Lozannie. Początkowo studiował klarnet u Michaela Yosta w Paryżu debiutując jako solista w wieku 20 lat. W latach 1791 - 1817 grał na klarnecie w orkiestrze Opery Paryskiej oraz był głównym klarnecistą w orkiestrze przy kaplicy kościelnej (późniejszej kaplicy królewskiej). Kiedy w 1795 roku powstało Konserwatorium, Lefevre był jednym z dziewiętnastu profesorów uczelni. W 1802 roku Lefevre napisał podręcznik "Methode de Clarinette", którego treść włączono do systemu nauczania w Konserwatorium. Zawarta w niniejszej publikacji Sonata na klarnet i fortepian pochodzi ze zbioru "Methode de Clarinette" Lefevrego. We wstępie obecnego wydania zamieszczono uwagi wykonawcze dotyczące m. in. artykulacji i ornamentyki. Całość w angielskiej wersji językowej. Jean Xavier Lefevre (1763 - 1829) was born in Lausanne. He studied the clarinet with Michael Yost in Paris making his debut as a soloist at the age of twenty. From 1791 - 1817 he played in the Paris Opera Orchestra and was principal clarinet at the Imperial Chapel (later the Royal Chapel) from 1807. When the paris Conservatoire was founded in 1795 Lefevre was one of nineteen proffesors to be appointed to teach 104 clarinet students. He held this professorship until 1824. His clarinet method, written in 1802, was adopted by the Conservatoire and remained the standard work for a considerable period. Lista utworów: |

Partytura chóralna z wyciągiem fortepianowym Requiem Gabriela Faure. Dzieło powstało w 1877, a 22 lata później zostało zinstrumentowane na orkiestrę. Faure was not drawn to compose a Requiem because of the death of a loved one, even though his mother had died during the early stages of composition and his father had passed away two years before. Faure's composition does not set his Reuiem to the standard liturgical text, instead adding a lyrical Pie Jesu and transcendent Paradisum, and omitting the Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum - which, for most composers, are opportunities to demonstrate the dramatic possibilities available with the choral and orchestral forces.
