Bill Evans był jednym z najważniejszych pianistów jazzu nowoczesnego. Studiował w Southeastern Louisiana University i nowojorskiej Mannes School of Music. Evans reprezentował nowy styl, charakteryzujący się oryginalnym podejściem do harmonii. Posługiwał się dość często pedałem, nazywany był poetą fortepianu, swoje improwizacje budował racjonalnie, z pełną świadomością. Wpływ Evansa na innych pianistów można porównać do wpływu Johna Coltrane'a na saksofonistów. At one time it used to be said, disparagingly, by people who should have known better, that Bill Evans was in reality not a jazz player at all. He was, they claimed, no more than a superior kind of cocktail pianist. Eva Cassidy urodziła się w 1963 roku w Waszyngtonie, a zmarła 1996 roku. Od najmłodszych lat wykazywała niezwykłe zdolności muzyczne, choć sama nie zdawała sobie sprawy ze swojego talentu. Pewnego dnia poznała Chrisa Biondo, który zachęcił ją do śpiewania i pomógł jej znaleźć pracę w chórkach.
