Skomponowany w latach 1788 - 89 Koncert wiolonczelowy C-dur op. 26 Ignacego Josepha Pleyela, w katalogu R. benton numer 104, miał za życia kompozytora ogromne powodzenie tak u wykonawców, jak i wydawców. W przeciągu niecałych trzydziestu lat od daty powstania pojawiło się dziewięć jego wydań w wersji oryginalnej na wiolonczelę i orkiestrę oraz kilka w opracowaniu na inne instrumenty. Utwór wykazujący znamienne dla stylu klasycznego cechy przypomina swoją konstrukcją jeden z koncertów J. Haydna. Pełne uroku tematy i ciekawa harmonia stanowią o jego oryginalnym pięknie i niezaprzeczalnej wartości artystycznej. Utwór jest atrakcyjny zarówno dla wykonawców, dla których stanowić będzie wdzięczne zadanie oraz cenne uzupełnienie klasycznego repertuaru, jak i dla słuchaczy, którzy będą mogli poznać tę interesującą muzykę. The Cello Concerto in C major, Op. 26 (1788 - 89), number 104 in Rita benton's catalogue, met with great success during the composer's lifetime both with performers and publishers. In less than thirty years from the date of its composition nine editions appeared in the original version for cello and orchestra as well as several arranged for other instruments. Pleyel's Cello Concerto Op. 26 is one of two by that composer written in the key of C major. It displays all the features characteristic of the classical style, such as a threemovement structure with sonata form at the beginning, symmetrical phrase structures, a typical division of parts into those providing the melody and those accompanying as well as the orchestration requiring few instruments (2vn, 2vl, bassi, 2ob, 2 cr). In structure it resembles one of the concertos by Haydn in the same key. At the same time its charming subjects and interesting harmony contribute to its original beauty and undeniable artistic value. Lista utworów: |

W tym czasie Robert Schumann łączył swoje muzyczne i poetyckie ambicje, zajmując się działalnością dziennikarską w Neue Zeitschrift für Musik. Publikacja jest pierwszą częścią cyklu "Davidsbündlertänze" i zawiera w sumie 9 utworów. Wydanie zawiera także noty dotyczące wskazówek wykonawczych, jak i różnice między poszczególnymi edycjami. Davidsbündlertänze (David's Confraternity Dances) 1837, composed during the fist third of the decade comprising Schumann's journalistic activity in his Neue Zeitschrift für Musik (1834 - 1844), stand at the cross-roads of his musical and poetic ambitions, but also at that of his personal endeavours to win Clara Wieck. They are at the same time musical evidence of his principles of life and aesthetic concepts motivating his struggle for a new music culture as well as an expression of psychological self-observation. Gabriel Fauré (1845 - 1924) to organista i kompozytor francuski, uczeń m. in. Kamila Saint - Saënsa. Razem z Cezarem Franckiem reprezentuje on narodową muzykę francuską. Fauré miał ogromną inwencję melodyczną oraz niezwykłą wrażliwość harmoniczną. Jego utwory cechują się klasyczną prostotą i klarownością. Szczególnym zamiłowaniem kompozytor darzył małe formy (miniatury). "Sicilianę" Fauré skomponował w 1893 roku. Utwór ten posiada kilka wersji. Pierwotnie napisany został z myślą o muzyce do sztuki Moliera - "Le Bourgeois gentilhomme". W obsadzie utworu znajdowały się flet, obój i kwartet smyczkowy. W kwietniu 1989 roku Fauré włączył "Sicilianę" do sztuki Maeterlincka "Pelléas et Mélisande", jako introdukcja do sceny, w której Melisanda gubi swój pierścień. Wówczas kompozytor opracował ten utwór na fortepian solo, a także na wiolonczelę i fortepian. Utwór "Elégie" Fauré ukończył w 1880 roku. Prawdopodobnie kompozycja ta miała być jedną z części sonaty. Premiera tego dzieła odbyła się w 1883 roku. Partię wiolonczeli wykonał Jules Loëb, a partie fortepianu - kompozytor. Prezentowana publikacja zawiera dwa utwory na wiolonczelę i fortepian - "Elegię" i "Sicilianę", wydane w oparciu o oryginalne rękopisy Fauré. Fauré's "Sicilienne" exists in several versions. Composed in 1893 as part of incidental music for Moliere's "Le Bourgeois gentilhomme", it remained unheard in this form as the theatre went bankrupt. A surviving manuscript from this time shows the piece scored for flute, oboe, and string quartet. In April 1898 Fauré incorporates it into his incidental music for Maeterlinck's "Pelléas et Mélisande", as an introduction to the fountain scene where Mélisande loses her ring. At the same time he made a reducion for solo piano and a version for cello and piano, the latter dedicated to the English cellist William Henry Squire. The authorship of the arrengement for violin is not known; it is probably not by Fauré. Fauré composed "Elégie" in 1880, possibly as a part of a sonata that was never completed. The public premiere was given in Paris by its dedicate, Jules Loëb, accompanied by Fauré, on 15 December 1883. Lista utworów: |

Zbiór opracowań chorałów osiemnastowiecznego niemieckiego kompozytora i organisty - Johanna Ludwiga Krebsa. Krebs uważany był za ulubionego ucznia Jana Sebastiana Bacha. Już sam tytuł kompozycji - "Klavierübung" odzwierciedla ogromny wpływ jaki wywarł na Krebsie właśnie Bach (autor wielu zbiorów zatytułowanych w ten sposób). Wpływ mistrza ujawnia się również w doborze chorałów protestanckich - wiele z tych wybranych przez Krebsa opracowywał również Bach (m. in. "Christ lag in Todesbanden", "Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott"). Johann Ludwig Krebs is reputed to have been Bach's most distinguished pupil at the Thomas School between 1726 and 1735. The title of the work - "Klavierübung" and the structure of its choral settings clearly reflect the influence of his great master, at the same time his melodic idiom shows a strong leaning towards a more rational interpretation of baroque style and cannot quite throw off the influences of a new epoch. Utwory fortepianowe Aleksandra Skriabina (1872 - 1915) wymagają od wykonawcy zarówno ogromnej wrażliwości, jak i niezwykłych zdolności technicznych. Kompozytor początkowo pozostawał pod silnym wpływem twórczości fortepianowej Fryderyka Chopina. Odzwierciedleniem tej fascynacji są m. in. preludia z op. 13 oraz op. 16. Niniejsza publikacja oprócz tych kompozycji zawiera również szereg miniatur pochodzących z późniejszej twórczości Skriabina (po. 1900 roku) m. in. "Poeme languide" z op. 52, czy "Poeme-Nocturne" z op. 61. Ukazują one w pełni nowatorstwo warsztatu kompozytorskiego artysty (oryginalna nowoczesna harmonia, ciekawa faktura, efekty polirytmiczne). Alexander Nicholaievich Scriabin, the son of diplomatist and lady pianist, was born on the 6th of January 1872 in Moscow. Scriabin belongs doubtlessy to the most ingenious and fascinating phenomena in music at the beginning of our century. His works for the piano require from player the highest degree of sensibility, as well as unusual technical and musical virtues. Above all, he has to be in situation to come up to the mark of the rhytmic, soun-sensititve and pedal artistic requierements. Scriabin's pieces for piano contained in the present 3rd volume give a good isight into the development of his style. They begin with Preludes Op. 13 and 16, which show Chopin's influence at the same time as his own personal imprint, continue with the magnificently virtuose Waltz Op. 38, and conclude with the later Preludes and Poems Op. 59, 61, 63, 67, 69 and 71.
