Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921) to pianista - wirtuoz, organista, dyrygent, pedagog oraz kompozytor, który obok Césara Francka uważany jest za najsłynniejszego z kompozytorów francuskich tworzących po Berliozie. Prezentowana publikacja zawiera wybrane kompozycje fortepianowe Saint-Saëns'a. Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 - 1921), together with Césare Franck, is one of the composers who renewed French music in the second half of the 19th century. At the time that Saint-Saëns wrote his earliest works, Berlioz was the only representative of genuine greatness in French symphonic music. Apart from the abundant flow of operatic production, the overwhelming influence of Beethoven and the even mightier influence of Wagner which followed upon it had crippled the original creative powers of many French composers.
