"Jesu, joy of man's desiring" w oryginale zostało skomponowane przez Johanna Schop i po raz pierwszy wydane w roku 1642. Tekst, którym Bach się później posłużył, napisał Martin Janus. Publikacja po raz pierwszy ukazała się w 1661 roku. This chorale is sometimes referred to as "Werde munter, mein Gemute" and "Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne", from the opening lines of two texts to which the melody appears in hymn - books published before Bach's time. The melody, originally composed by Johann Schop for the former text, first appeared in 1642. The text that Bach used, written by Martin Janus, was first published in 1661. Utilizing Schop's melody and stanzas 6 and 17 of Janus's text, Bach wrote this setting of the chorale for his Church Cantata No. 147 "Herz und Mund und That und Leben" (1716). Lista utworów: |
