Prezentowany Koncert A-dur został skomponowany przez Mozarta jesienią 1782 roku w Wiedniu. Dzieło powstało z dedykacją dla jego ojca. Zarówno ten koncert, jak i dwa inne (K. 414, 415) powstały w tym samym czasie. Prezentowane opracowanie przeznaczone jest na duet dwóch fortepianów. Aranżacji dokonał Isidor Philipp.

This Concerto was written in the autumn of 1782 at Vienna and first published by Artaria & Co. in 1785. Concerning this work and two others composed at about the same time (K. 413, 415), Mozart wrote to his father on December 28, 1782: "These concertos are a happy medium between what is too easy and too difficult; they are very brilliant, pleasing to the ear, and natural, without being vapid. There are passages here and there from which connoisseurs alone can derive satisfaction, but these passages are written in such a way that the less learned cannot fail to be pleased, although without knowing why".
All the cadenzas in the present edition are by Mozart.

Christian Wolff (ur. 1934) to amerykański kompozytor współczesnej muzyki eksperymentalnej. W wielu swoich utworach stosuje on fragmenty improwizowane, uzależnione od inwencji wykonawców. Prezentowana publikacja zwiera kompozycję na dwa fortepiany "Duo for Pianists" Wolffa. Partytura tego utworu została ujęta w postaci pojedynczych motywów muzycznych lub akordów bez wartości rytmicznych, do których odnoszą się wskazówki w postaci układu liczb, np. jedna z liczb podanych przy danym odcinku oznacza czas trwania w sekundach, inna liczba natomiast określa ilość dźwięków jakie mają być wykonane w danym fragmencie. Wiele zależy jednak od wykonawców, którzy dowolnie kreują m. in. dynamikę utworu. Kompozytor ponadto stosuje również niekonwencjonalną grę na fortepianie - szarpanie w różny sposób strun fortepianu.

The parts, one for each pianist, are given (not the score). The numer before a colon (3:) gives time in seconds (use a watch with second hand, best a stop-watch). On the other side of the colon is what is to be played, anywhere (chosen freely) within the indicated time. The sounds given may take up all of the indicated time, or any, including the shortest, part of it, i.e. may come anywhere throughout the indicated time. The numbers of the right side of the colon (:2) give the number of tones to be played. When indications for sounds are given but numbers, understand one sound for each designation. Dynamics are free unless specified.
