This Concerto was written in the autumn of 1782 at Vienna and first published by Artaria & Co. in 1785. Concerning this work and two others composed at about the same time (K. 413, 415), Mozart wrote to his father on December 28, 1782: "These concertos are a happy medium between what is too easy and too difficult; they are very brilliant, pleasing to the ear, and natural, without being vapid. There are passages here and there from which connoisseurs alone can derive satisfaction, but these passages are written in such a way that the less learned cannot fail to be pleased, although without knowing why". Saint-Saëns Camille - w latach 1853-1857 piastował stanowisko organisty w kościele Saint-Merry a w 1858-1877 w kościele St. Madeleine w Paryżu.
